Fred Canaday Report: June 2004 The latest from Romania/Moldova I
have just returned from a three week trip to Romania and Moldova, spending a
full week in each of our major ministry points. The purpose of this trip was
evangelism primarily, but I also taught the book of Joshua in our seminary in
Duralesti, Moldova. Highlights 1. I attended two baptismal services. The one in Mediesul-Aurit, Romania was a blessing as a mother and her grown daughter followed Christ in the waters of Baptism. 2. In Duralesti, Moldova 6 people were baptized. Included in this group was a man who is in charge of Anti-Corruption for the whole country of Moldova. His wife also was baptized. 3. I had the privilege of leading a young man to Christ one on one through an interpreter, he came forward and publicly declared his decision before the church the next Sunday. 4. In Tanderei, Romania where the work has struggled for a time, a real breakthrough seems to have taken place. I preached on a Thursday night in the building they meet in and we had a good service, but following that meeting we traveled to the edge of the city where a group of 27 new people had been gathered by one of our workers who has began working with Iuli Stoian, in that city. 16 of those present asked Christ to save them at the invitation. Some were in the main service on Sunday morning, and we pray that this is the spark that is needed to launch this work into a pattern of growth.
5. We ministered in back yards twice, on a boat once, did personal evangelism in a park, preached in houses, had one homosexual to repent, saw a total of 56 decisions for Christ as I preached or taught 25 times in 19 days. One of these converts was a Jewish woman. I also preached in two orphanages.
6. There is a great hunger for the gospel in these two countries. We have more opportunities than resources to meet these challenges. Please pray and help if you can. 7.
Other highlights include the placing of two new men as missionaries. One of
these men,
Sandu, was saved out of a life of drunkenness two and a half years ago
when I was preaching in Bordusani. He has been attending our seminary and now we
feel he is ready to begin as a supporting minister to help Adie Neagu in
Bordusani and Cegani, Romania. I
have taken very little space to describe a blessed three weeks. There is a great
need for more supporters
for this fruitful ministry. Missionaries in these countries are supported for a
fraction of what it costs to send an American missionary abroad, and yet we see
them bear fruit on a day to day basis. If you want to help, contact us at any of
the above numbers. Prayerfully
submitted Fred
