BIEM's of Light: October 2007

Praises Rejoice with us!

v  The September **** conference in Kiev produced many blessings! There were 750 attendees from 13 different nations. Believers heard testimonies from converted Muslims, some who just recently came to Christ. Here are some decisions made: 70 people expressed interest in missions, 32 felt called to missions, and 18 expressed interest specifically in Muslim missions!

v  Although there was a temporary snag with a passport problem, Peter Rumachik and his son Pavel have received visas to come to the U.S. from Russia to preach and share testimonies in American churches from mid-October to mid-November. This will be a challenge and blessing to the hearers.

v  While in Kiev recently, Americans assisted Ukrainians in putting in an 8-ft. fence around a play area at the children’s ministry center in Kiev. Director Sergei said the whole neighborhood was amazed at how quickly it went up!

v  Vitaly Keller in St. Petersburg, Russia, writes, “We praise God for a few dedicated young people who are always out in the streets helping us in evangelism. Someone counted that it takes about 7.5 times for an average American to hear the Gospel in order to understand it and to repent of his sins. Although no such study has been conducted in Russia, we are relatively certain that whenever we share with people, this is their first contact with the Good News. Very rarely do we meet someone who has spoken with a believer before.” Praise God for steadfast witnesses!

Prayer Pray with us!

v  Several young believers saved out of a Muslim background in *** seriously want to go to Ukraine to study the Bible to prepare for ministry in their own country. Please pray that student visas will be granted to them.

v  Three BIEM workers recently visited a *** nation to consider possible locations to establish a ministry center. Please pray for guidance as we determine many aspects of this decision.

v  Please pray for our Christian brethren in Moldova. The country suffered a severe drought for much of the summer, resulting in withered-up crops and gardens, high prices, and concerns about food shortages.

v  From Tandarei, Romania, Iulian Stoian writes, “We are encouraged to see members from the church becoming more and more active and interested in sharing their testimony and faith with others and winning souls for Christ. We pray that Lord Jesus will bless these efforts and help us to see fruits.”
