BIEMs of Light: October 2005

Praises Rejoice with us!

v    Bruce and Natalie Tuttle are now on the field in Ukraine! For the past 18 months the Tuttles have been on deputation to raise support to be in Bila Tserkva for this fall semester at International Bible College. Their support level is still at 80%, but praise God that they had enough to get on the field when needed to provide crucial leadership for the college.

v    The humanitarian aid provided in our most recent container is having an impact. Church planters Igor and Alexandra Fomichov in Goncharivske, Ukraine, were able to help 20 families with their portion. “All these people were happy and thankful for such unexpected gifts, because they would not be able to provide themselves with it.”

v    There is exciting progress in the new church effort in Ternopyl, Ukraine, which has several colleges and universities.   Vitaly Belyak, BIEM’s church planter, has been busy distributing thousands of flyers inviting students to attend a Bible study.  Eight showed up at the first Bible study, 12 for the second meeting and by the third meeting over 20 students were attending!  Please pray that many would be saved in this strategic city.

v    Praise God for three new church planting opportunities.  One is the result of BIEM’s new camp ministry in Farcasa, Romania where there are plans to locate two missionary families.  This month Sam Slobodian will accompany BIEM missionaries on a survey trip to the country of Georgia.  A third opportunity is yet another military city in Ukraine which has been targeted by our BIEM church planters in Ukraine.  Please pray for direction and necessary funds for these possible efforts.

Prayer Pray with us!

v    Grace Baptist Church in Chervona Sloboda is doing some major remodeling and reconstruction to their building. Until it’s done, they are meeting in a home, which isn’t ideal. Pray for God’s blessing, both in finances to pay for this work and for safety of those doing the labor.

v    BIEM Missionary Tim Smith needs your prayers in his efforts to re-enter Magadan where he leads two new churches.  After a prolonged struggle Tim managed to get only a 3-month visa.  However, most airlines have pulled out of that area and therefore brother Tim is now on a week-long train ride which he hopes will get him into Magadan after a short flight from one of the Siberian cities which still has flights into that city.  Pray for direction as Tim battles these challenges.

v    After waiting for more than two years for the Ministry of Defense in Ukraine to okay the purchase of a building for the church on the military base in Desna, the Sychov’s have been told that there is now a new law requiring an auction with a minimum price which is higher than had been anticipated.  Please pray for additional funds and the negotiations.

v    Our ministry costs in Ukraine have basically doubled since the price of gas in Ukraine has rocketed upward.  Pray that we can raise urgently needed funds soon.
