BIEMs of Light: October 2004

PraisesRejoice with us!

v     Praise God for nearly 30 people saved over the last 3 months in Fetesti, Romania, the key city from which BIEM has launched several church planters.  The people in this Southeastern region of Romania are also rejoicing for an excellent harvest agriculturally, for which they thank God.

v     The city of Kyiv, Ukraine, has granted a portion of an older building to BIEM's ministry to homeless children for very low cost.  Clean up and remodeling has begun.  Please pray for the funds needed for this effort.

v     Romanian church planter Iuli Stoian reports that he has begun discipleship classes with five families in Tandarei.

v     The Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Center launched by the Nahabino church in the Moscow area is at maximum capacity of 15.   Eight of these men have accepted Christ and followed the Lord in believers’ baptism.  In addition, God has blessed this ministry with several opportunities to present a Gospel-centered anti-drug message in public schools.  Recovering addicts give clear and powerful evangelistic testimonies in these meetings, and many young peoples’ hearts have been touched.

v     Although our new BIEM coworkers Rick and Pam Barry do not yet have their full support, the Lord has made available for them a home that had been repossessed near the new BIEM office. Trusting the Lord to provide, the Barrys moved on October 2 and have begun ministering with us.

v     Pray for survey efforts in 4 Romanian towns being conducted by BIEM national missionaries in Saveni, Lacusteni, Platonesti and Fratilesti.  Thousands of Gospel tracts and invitations have been distributed.

v     For October and November, numerous churches in the U.S. have scheduled some of BIEM’s ministry partners from Ukraine and Russia to come and speak and preach.  Pray for traveling mercies, for the interpreting involved, and for God's blessings on these services.

v     At the same time that our presidential elections take place in the United States there will be a critically important election campaign going on in Ukraine. This event is stirring considerable debate and concerns the government’s backing of a convicted felon, who happens to be the prime minister.  Please pray that the people will be able to freely elect a candidate untainted from criminal elements, which so often seem to find their way into the government there.

v     One of our missionaries has been sought out by a well-known mafia figure, who seems to be seeking spiritual answers.  Please pray for this extremely delicate situation.
