BIEMs of Light: November 2006

Praises Rejoice with us!

v In the last week of October, BIEM’s director for Romania and Moldova emailed to say, “Margie and I arrived safely in Romania. Preached in Danut’s church on Sunday. A man paralyzed on one side accepted Christ.” Several souls also came to Christ when Ron Brewer recently preached in Ukraine. Praise God for new names written down in glory!

v     Last month we requested prayer for two church groups from America traveling to assist the Desna, Ukraine, congregation with the major reconstruction of the building they have purchased. They have made outstanding progress on the roof and Sunday school rooms they worked on. In fact, with this great boost, the church hopes to begin meeting in a portion of the building by New Year’s.

v     Four more soul were saved in Fastiv, Ukraine, where they are filling the new auditorium (completed autumn 2005). This church has begun putting out a monthly newspaper called River of Life. Also, a young lady who came to them a couple years ago on the verge of suicide has just gotten married to a faithful Christian man, and they are both serving the Lord. Praise God for working in lives!

v     Fruit from the summer camp continues! A young lady named Victoria, the daughter of a Ukrainian village mayor (who let her go to our camp despite being warned that she might come back a singing, praying Baptist) not only got saved but is now holding children’s meetings in her village to teach what she learned in camp.

Prayer Pray with us!

v     Please continue to pray for more Christian workers for the fields. The need is expressed in the following lines from Tatiana Yakshina, a school teacher who weekly travels to nearby Zorya to teach Bible lessons to children: “Zorya needs a good preacher so much! … Pray that the Lord would send to Zorya the one who would be in charge of spiritual revival here.”

v     On top of the exhaustion and back pain Ron Brewer experienced in the midst of much traveling and preaching, he got a case of food poisoning in Russia. He is back in the U.S., but still feeling the effects of this. Please pray that the Lord would rebuild his strength and give relief from back pain.

v     From Romania, Adrian Neagu reports that a fire occurred in Facaieni in a home where a small church had been meeting, rendering it unusable for a meeting place. He has requested prayer for a meeting place, and also for the family that owns the house.

v     Vitaly Bilyak reports that, at prayer meetings of the new little church in Ternopil, Ukraine, every member continually requests prayer for the salvation of unsaved relatives. This is their foremost request. Please, let’s join them in praying for the souls of those family members.
