of Light: May 2007 Praises – Rejoice with us! v Marius Simionas reported that work on the church is progressing. Even an unsaved man gave money to cement the basement floor—and then came to do the work himself. Pray for his salvation. v From Tandarei, Romania, Iulian Stoian writes how he has prayed for a long while for an open door to establish a ministry in Slobozia. The parents of a believer in Bordusani live in Slobozia, and they expressed their desire to learn about Jesus. So, too, have a couple other families in that area. Now Iulian is praying for their salvation and that a new church might be planted from these beginnings. v Previously we have requested prayer for Dr. Ron Brewer, whose back has been in severe pain for quite a while. Recently he underwent two special procedures and now writes, “A third procedure may be necessary after I return from Eastern Europe, but right now I am rejoicing over the freedom from pain that I am experiencing. Please continue to pray for me. I know that God has worked a miracle here through the skill of this fine doctor.” Thanks for praying! v Margie Canaday (wife of Fred Canaday, our Director for Romania/Moldova) was found to have some cancer, but it’s a small amount in an early stage. We praise God that the doctor believes a minimal treatment for a month will be enough to eliminate this threat to her health. Prayer – Pray with us! v Because Marius Simionas is Romanian by nationality, not Moldovan, the Moldovan authorities have ordered that he and his family leave the country. Marius plans to start a new church in Iasi, Romania, but is having a difficult time finding affordable housing for the family. From there he will travel back and forth to Moldova. Please pray that the Lord will direct his steps to a suitable home. v The church in Otradnoye, Russia, is discipling 9 people who began coming on Easter. In addition, this church has rented an auditorium for evangelistic services and is planning to launch a church plant in a nearby area in May. Please pray for salvation decisions and God’s blessing on this new outreach. v Removed for security purposes. v In Lutsk, Ukraine, Resurrection Baptist Church is home for 60 orphan children, some from tragic circumstances. BIEM worker Valia Yankovska writes, “We ask you our dear friends to pray about these kids. We need all kinds of things for handcrafting: paper, pencils. We also need vitamins, diapers for two invalids, food supplements, clothes, toys, and to be able to organize rest for the kids this summer to improve their health.” Please pray for these children, and for the adult workers.
