of Light: March 2008 Praises – Rejoice with us! v Mykola Glavnik, the Rector of the Theological Seminary in Kiev, Ukraine, reported last month that they have more students than expected. Some students are already pastors who feel the need for more training. Please pray for these students and their instructors. v The church in the Obolon district of Kiev has been facing legal challenges to their church building program. We praise God for the outcome: “Our case in the Supreme Court of Ukraine was decided in the favor of our church. Now we can continue and finish construction of the House of Prayer.” Although they need funds to continue, at least now they won’t lose the thousands already invested. v Last month we requested prayer for Peter Rumachik, who had been hospitalized for observation. Although his illness required BIEM to cancel a trip for him to preach in a number of churches in the U.S., we’re happy to say he is home and feeling better. He used his hospital visit as a God-given opportunity to witness to the nurses and staff! v Concerning ***, BIEM has launched a new church-planting effort in this highly restricted country by taking on the support of a church-planting couple who have launched three different Bible study groups. Please pray that God will use these groups to form a strong nucleus for this new church. Prayer – Pray with us! v On March 2, in Desna, Ukraine, church-planter Vitek Sychov officially passed the role of pastor to Igor Fomichov. Feeling God’s prompting to plant yet another church in the Chernigov region of Ukraine, Vitaly and Vika will move on to their next ministry. The church unanimously supports both the choice of man for their new pastor and Vitek’s vision. Pray for both men in their changing roles! v In Fedorivka Ukraine, Pastor Mikhailo Tytarenko found an unexpected visitor at his door: a man named Pavlo for whom his whole church has been praying. They talked, and Pavlo has attended 4 services in a row. He is also reading the New Testament. Please pray for Pavlo’s salvation. v Sergei and Yulia Levitsky, of the Children’s Ministry Center in Kiev, noticed a young girl repeatedly digging in garbage bins near their apartment building. They decided to see if the family was really that poor, and found that the mother has 8 kids, with no husband. Pray for the salvation of this family. v A number of BIEM personnel are searching for a suitable site for a ministry center in a *** country in Western Asia. Please pray that God will lead to them to just the right spot.
