of Light: March 2007 Praises – Rejoice with us! v In Goncharovsk, Ukraine, our church-planter has initiated a sports club, which has put him in touch with new people in the community. People are coming and listening despite a local priest who warns people that these Baptists want to harvest their body organs to sell on the black market! The family of an officer next door to the Fomichovs got saved about six months ago and are preparing for baptism. v Although the rebuilt church in Chervona Sloboda, Ukraine, isn’t quite finished, the church is rejoicing to be meeting in it since New Year’s. In fact, now that it’s open for services, a number of new people are attending—including a man and wife who are both former criminals and are infamous in the community! Praise the Lord for drawing needy souls to the preaching of His Word! v In Trilisi, Ukraine, another Ukrainian congregation has been building a new building even though they have no pastor. They, too, rejoice that they can finally meet in the building as they continue work on it. v The church in Fastiv, Ukraine, is pleased to report definite spiritual growth among its members. Several have matured in the faith to the point of becoming Sunday school teachers, and a couple men have also become deacons of the church. What a joy to see believers growing in grace! Prayer – Pray with us! v In Ternopil, church planters Vitaly and Katya Bilyak express appreciation to the Lord for many blessings, but they do have a special prayer request: that one family of mature Christians would come and help them in the ministry. As elsewhere, there is a need for more laborers in the harvest fields. v In Moldova, church-planter Marius Simionias has been very effective in ministry. However, because he and his family are from Romania, Moldovan authorities are objecting. They say that if he wants to work in Moldova, fine, but his Romanian family has no business there. Please pray for this situation. v For years school teacher Tatiana Yakshina has traveled to the village of Zoria on Saturdays to hold a Bible class for the children of that village. Sadly, few adults show much interest. But recently a male medic decided to attend. Although unsaved, he liked what he saw and heard, so he now helps regularly. He even made the long drive into Kiev to attend a real church! Pray for his salvation. v In Desna, the Sychevs’ adopted daughter Karina continues to face a number of health issues. She will have eye surgery soon. Her parents would appreciate prayer for this bright little girl with physical needs. |
