BIEMs of Light: June 2005

PraisesRejoice with us!

v     At the Homeless Children’s Center in Kyiv, Ukraine, Sergei Levitsky received an unexpected visit from an official from the mayor’s office. Sergei was delighted when the man showed him a very positive letter that the mayor had received. It was from a boy whom Sergei had helped. The man toured the facility. He couldn’t offer financial aid, but he promised to look out for the Center’s interests however he could. Praise God!

v     Last month, thirty young people graduated from the seminary in Kyiv, Ukraine, and another eight from the Bible Institute in Dyedovsk, Russia. Some of the students now enrolling come from churches pastored by our graduates! We praise God for enabling us to train new workers for His harvest fields.

v     In Moldova, Sergiu Rats is praising the Lord for a fruitful month and for three newly baptized believers in an area called Jora. Also, they had a seminar on stewardship, which was very well received.

v     At the Baptist church in Desna, Ukraine, about 12 people who previously attended a charismatic church have been coming and seeking correct doctrine. Their church has closed: the former leader of that group has now enrolled in our Baptist seminary in Kyiv!

v     A church in Kansas is sending a truck with over 50 repaired bicycles to go to orphans and other needy people. Praise the Lord for sympathetic hearts!

 Prayer Pray with us!

v     Also concerning the church in Desna – The congregation can no longer meet in the building they had previously rented. Please pray that this group will be able to rent (or even purchase) a different meeting place.

v     In Magadan, Russia, missionary Tim Smith’s visa expires at the end of June. Please pray that he will be granted a new visa to remain in the country.

v     In Tandarei, Romania, Iulian Stoian hopes to start a home Bible study with several unsaved families he has been visiting. Please pray for children and adults alike to open their hearts to the Gospel.

v     In Mitino, Russia, Volodya Makarenko has been blessed by the Lord with some good contacts as he seeks to plant a new church. In fact, the director of a government social center for needy families has endorsed the Christian summer camps Volodya is helping to organize. As he and other church members work with these kids from unchurched families, pray for good opportunities to witness to their parents, too.

v     Please pray that sufficient funding will come in for the children’s camps in each of our countries.
