BIEMs of Light: July 2004

 PraisesRejoice with us!

v     The church in Fetesti, Romania has baptized 20 new converts and is proceeding with the second stage of construction which will bring the building from the foundation through the first floor.  $15,000 is still needed of the $40,000 cost of this second phase.  Please pray that this need is met soon.

v     Praise God for supplying $10,000 of medical supplies for the church in Duralesti, Moldova.  They are using a room in the church building under construction to operate a medical clinic.  This will provide many opportunities to share Christ as well as expose people to the church.

v     The youth ministry in Borivka and Komarivka has grown to nearly 40 youth who conduct activities reaching out to orphans, elderly, and evangelizing the lost in the community as well as meeting for recreational activities and fellowship.

v     Praise God for several mission teams helping BIEM’s ministry this summer.  Currently there is a group from Pennsylvania conducting an evangelistic soccer tournament in the Desna military base in Ukraine, next week a second group from New York will be working with children and the church planting efforts in Lutsk, Ukraine closely followed by a group from Michigan who will be working in summer camps.  Pray for God’s blessings and safe traveling for these groups.

v     Pastor Rumachik’s book A Path Not Lined With Roses, is in the final editing phase of the Russian edition which we hope to print this year.  The Russian version includes a chapter on his recent visit to the prisons where he spent so many years suffering for Christ.  Please pray that this project will be completed soon and be a source a great blessing for Russian believers.

v     Tim Smith, our missionary in Magadan, which is northern Siberia, asks for special prayer. The Magadan oblast (like a state) Duma is trying to pass a law that would outlaw all missionary activity in the Magadan region. This bill would violate the Russian constitution, which guarantees the freedom of religion, but as we all know parts of Siberia are a law unto themselves.   Please pray that this proposed law will fail to pass.

v     $10,000 is still needed for this summers camping program and our homeless children's ministry has more expenses since expanding into space provided by the city at minimal costs.  Please continue to pray that funds would come in for these needs.

v     SPECIAL NEED:  Please pray especially for an event that may open the door to meeting one of our ministries greatest needs.  The possibility of obtaining an office and warehouse facility depends on a city zoning meeting on July 15th.  Please pray that the variance we need would be granted.
