BIEM's of Light: January 2007

Praises Rejoice with us!

v In the last quarter of 2006 BIEM entered an ambitious matching-funds program. If BIEM’s supporters could raise $75,000, that figure plus a matching amount given would pay the remaining balance owed on the mission’s building and property. We’re thrilled to announce that this goal has been met! Join us in praising God for His marvelous provision.

v     When the Children’s Ministry Center in Kiev needed enough chain-link fencing to create a recreation play area, a fence company in Chicago donated all that was needed. Praise the Lord!

v     Other friends of BIEM recently donated other needed items as well. A church in Wisconsin provided two basketball backboards and hoops, another church donated folding chairs, plus funds came in to buy 100 chairs for Sunday school classes for two churches, and people from across the country provided new children’s shoes and clothing as humanitarian aid. We certainly praise God for stretching our resources in this way!

v     On December 30 volunteers gathered at BIEM to pack our second 40-ft. container for 2006. In it are all the donated items mentioned above, plus computers and other ministry supplies. Praise the Lord, this shipment has now begun the journey to Ukraine.

Prayer Pray with us!

v     Last month we requested prayer for Ann, a co-worker of the Central Asian team. In December doctors found that she has two types of cancer. This month she undergoes surgery in an attempt to remove all the affected cells. Please pray for God’s intervention on behalf of Ann.

v     The church in Lutsk, Ukraine, requests prayer for the Galukh family. The father is a drunkard and is the source of quarrels, fights and tears. The mother is not saved, but began bringing her 3 daughters to church. One daughter has accepted Christ, and the other two enjoy services, but this family’s home life is miserable. Please pray for the salvation of the father especially.

v     Four more people are preparing for baptism in the new little church in Ternopil, Ukraine. Please pray for them to grow in God’s grace, for some to become leaders, and for others who seem to be drawing closer to the Lord.

v     A single woman in Russia who sincerely loves the Lord has been sexually assaulted and is now with child. A church planter and his wife are regularly counseling with her, but please pray for her and this unexpected development in her life.
