BIEMs of Light: February 2004Praises – Rejoice with us! v
Prayer
has been requested for Margie Canaday, wife of BIEM’s director for Romania and
Moldova twice in this publication. She
has been undergoing treatments for lymphoma.
We are rejoicing that a recent test indicated that she is cancer free!
Margie has two more treatments and then is on a three-month screening
watch. Praise God! v
Tim
Smith, BIEM’s missionary in far northern Russia had also been mentioned for
prayer concerning vision problems on a previously operated eye.
After recent surgery for which many were praying, Tim reports that his
vision has been restored to 20/20 with the aid of glasses. v
The
ministry of Alexander Shestov, BIEM’s national missionary working in Otradnoe
recently faced a crisis after their ministry van wore out beyond repair and
their car was wrecked in an accident. Praise
God for an excellent response from supporters who gave over $13,000.
A reliable van was purchased meeting the needs of this church planting
work, which includes a regular ministry to orphans and the needy. v
Praise
God for the generous assistance of the charitable foundation Jehovah-Jireh,
which has recently provided grants to help BIEM church building programs in
Desna, Ukraine and Fetesti, Romania. Prayer – Pray with us! v
In
Tandarei and Slobodzia, Romania, BIEM national missionary Iulian Stoian has had
some remarkable opportunities to minister in an orphanage and public school.
Brother Stoian also reports a changing attitude among their neighbors who
are warming up to the ministry of the new church.
Pray for brother Stoian as he continues these efforts. v
Please
pray that we will be able to ship our next container this coming month.
The company providing the container that we were supposed to fill with
Gospel Literature and humanitarian aid on February 7th, ran into
problems that resulted in volunteers ready to load a container but no container
to load! This turned out to be
God’s hand of mercy since the area where this was to be done was covered with
such treacherously slippery ice that loading the container as we had planned
would have been extremely difficult and dangerous.
As it turned out we had an unusual amount of items coming in which needed
to be unloaded and stored so that the volunteers turned out have plenty to do
with some great fellowship. Praise
God that the $1,500 still needed to cover the cost of shipping this container
has been provided! v
The new
church in Snitinka is conducting evangelistic meetings this month.
Please pray that the films and Bible distributions being planned will be
fruitful. v BIEM missionaries Adrian and Simona Neagu lost one of their twin girls in childbirth. Simona and the surviving baby girl are recovering in the hospital. Please pray for this family in the midst of both sorrow and joy. |
