BIEMs of Light: December 2005

Praises Rejoice with us!

v     A television producer in Krasnogorsk, Russia, contacted the Christian Rehabilitation Center near Moscow to ask if our workers running the Center would appear on a television program addressing the problem of drugs and alcohol in Russia. They immediately agreed and were able to discuss on live television the Lord’s power to free people from addictions. They also answered questions from viewers.

v     Earlier this year we requested prayer for the privatization of some government-owned property that our church planters wanted to buy. Praise God that the congregation in the military city of Desna, Ukraine, has seen this prayer answered. The building that they had targeted as a potential church has been assessed at $35,000 and is available for purchase. Although the Desna church needs $20,000 to complete the purchase, this is an answer to prayer and a great step forward.

v     When serious setbacks arose concerning the leadership of the church in Otradnoye, Russia, Oleg Vladyko graciously accepted the responsibility of that ministry. Praise God that the church not only endured a smooth transition of leaders, but is thriving. They have seen several souls saved, 2 baptisms and growth in the Sunday school and youth ministry. One of the young men saved has been sent by BIEM to the drug rehabilitation center near Moscow. His sister also came to Christ.

v     Thank you for your prayers for Marius Simionias in Chisinau, Moldova, concerning the blood disease he contracted. A course of treatment has been prescribed which doctors believe should add many more productive years to his life.

  Prayer Pray with us!

v     Vitaly Bilyak in Ternopil, Ukraine, has been conducting successful children’s clubs and meetings for college students to introduce them to the Gospel. Now he would like to expand this ministry and offer regular services for adults. However, doing this will require a suitable meeting place and funds to rent such a place. Pray for God’s direction and provision for the work in Ternopil.

v     Please pray for our outgoing container of aid and supplies. Apparently we are facing new obstacles since our shipper says that changes for shipments to Ukraine may involve new bureaucratic complications.

v     In northwest Romania, Danut Blaj travels and ministers in Romanesti, Babasesti, Raturile Mediesului, Iosib, and Satu Mare. He asks us to pray for a Hungarian-speaking co-laborer in this region, where so many speak that language and where “the people are so secular and in such need of a spiritual revival.” Danut could also benefit from a van to drive people to services, as his little vehicle is too small for the task.

v     A church in Indiana recently raised several thousand dollars to finance the completion of a church-building project in Trilisi, Ukraine. Pray for the workers as they continue construction this winter.
