of Light: April 2007 Praises – Rejoice with us! v From Bila Tserkva, Ukraine, Bruce Tuttle shares that 3 graduates of International Bible College have started new churches: Igor and Ira moved to Latvia last year and have a group of 21 people, six of whom are baptized, with 3 awaiting baptism. Another young man has begun a work in Stanislavchek, Ukraine, and Slava has begun a church in Gontivka, Ukraine. Praise God for graduates applying their training! v The container of supplies that BIEM shipped in early January has passed Ukrainian customs and is now being distributed. From Ternopyl the Bilyaks already write that the chairs their church received were much needed and were put to use that very day. Thanks for prayers and contributions toward this! v Last month we mentioned that Karina Sychov might need eye surgery. However, doctors now feel that eye therapy will be a better treatment. Also, she is growing stronger despite her cerebral palsy. Thanks for praying for this cheerful and bright daughter of the Sychovs. v Thanks to the generosity of a friend of BIEM, several churches in Eastern Europe are holding special outreaches to widows. These include recognition services, meals, and a package of basic groceries. Please pray for God’s Spirit to work in hearts. (Due to WW II, a large number of widows live in the former USSR.) Prayer – Pray with us! v During Rick Barry’s trip to Kazan, Russia, he accompanied several believers in a vehicle purchased with funds that BIEM provided. This car is dedicated solely to evangelism and is used several times a week to visit other towns, where believers share the Gospel. (During this trip, 3 souls – 2 young and 1 elderly – put their faith in Christ!) Please pray for more salvation decisions from this outreach around Kazan. v We’ve been concerned about a town called Snitynka in Ukraine. There were believers, but no mature Christian leader to shepherd them. Now a respected man from the Fastiv church has agreed to begin holding services there. This is a big answer to prayer, but continue praying for this new outreach. v We requested prayer for Ann, one of our coworkers with cancer. She has begun chemotherapy and is joyfully trusting in the Lord. Please pray for these treatments to be effective. v Fred Canaday has prayed for several years for the Satu Mare area of Romania. Now that the Bible school in Festesti has been turned over to nationals, he is glad to see God answering prayer regarding Satu Mare. There are now 8 students studying God’s Word in the needy area of Satu Mare. At least 3 students will serve as counselors in Bible camp this summer. Pray for these students of God’s Word. |
