Rick & Pam Barry Prayer Letter - May 2007

Dear family and friends,

Last month Rick represented BIEM at Missions Week at Northland Baptist Bible College. Those days each spring are a special time, when many missionaries preach and speak on campus and answer questions for the students. Rick was again asked to teach several classes.

Back at the ministry office, in between other, more visible events, there are always letters to write, pastors’ reports to translate into English, travel plans to coordinate, phone calls to return, etc. Ministry without administration just doesn’t happen!

On May 8 Rick was able to represent the ministry again at a small conference for Indiana pastors held near Attica, Indiana. By passing out brochures and newsletters and chatting with pastors, we try to acquaint ever-widening circles of people with our BIEM. More such trips are planned for this summer.

Here are some recent blessings and prayer requests to share:

 ● May 10 and 15 were “jeans & t-shirt days” at the office: Friends from two churches came and helped to sort and pack a huge pile of donated clothing, shoes, and children’s toys for our next container. This was a tremendous help. (Want to join us some day? J)

● In May we saw answers to prayer as the Lord provided the financial means for BIEM to help a key church near Moscow to buy a minivan for evangelism, plus funds to ship our next container, assist a Russian church with an addition to their building, fund a recording of the spoken Scriptures in the Turkmen language (for broadcast into Muslim Turkmenistan), and a large portion of the funds needed for summer camps came in. Praise God!

● For the 3rd week of September, BIEM is planning a Missions to Muslims conference to be held in Kiev, Ukraine. Some of those “-stan” countries of Central Asia once formed the southern Soviet Union, so many Muslims there speak Russian. Since American missionaries aren’t well received in those lands, we’re hoping to motivate past and present Bible institute students to help evangelize there. In recent days our workers have seen several former Muslims come to Christ in Central Asia!

For those of you who have not already heard, on May 9 Pam’s dad, Jesse Potter, passed away from the pancreatic cancer that was found in him this past February. These have been some difficult days, but we appreciate your prayers and the cards that many of you sent. Rick had the privilege of preaching the funeral message.

Thanks again for your gifts and prayers that enable us to be active in this ministry.

Sincerely in Christ,

Rick & Pam Barry
