Hoblitz Prayer Letter April 2009
Dear Friends and Prayer Partners,
This prayer letter is an emergency one because we have had to come home urgently.
March 13th, our daughter was in a very serious car accident. The hospital in Charlottesville, Virginia called us in the country of Georgia on what was the morning of the 14th for us. Evidently, our daughter had slid off of the road on Hwy 29 going north on an unguarded section of the road, gone down an embankment and crashed into a tree. A rescue squad had to be called in to cut her out of her car and there were serious concerns about her bone, rib and neck injuries. Our daughter was being watched closely and a necessary surgery was being planned. As you can imagine we had to depend on our Lord's mercy und sustaining grace during the next tense hours as we made preparations to depart on the next available plane to get back to the U.S. and be with our daughter.
By God's help we were able to find a plane and we arrived in the U.S. on the 15th of March in time to reach our daughter just as she was coming out of surgery.
We want to thank our Lord, all of those who were praying and you dear friends for your regular prayers for us, because every step of this crisis, we and our daughter felt God's help. While still in her crashed vehicle, almost immediately after the impact, a pastor appeared on the scene and prayed for our daughter. Others also appeared to assure her help was on the way. Later as we pieced together the facts of the accident we were so thankful that time and again she was aided by excellent people including top-notch rescue workers. a highly honored policeman and tremendously skilled medical workers.
Neck injuries can be very damaging and leave one with serious permanent disabilities. We are happy to report that as far as our daughter's current healing progress has gone, there does not seem to be any permanent damage to her body. However, her neck brace is still on and will only be taken off after six to eight weeks. We ask everyone, please, to pray that her neck mobility will be completely restored and by God's grace there will be no permanent pain that she has to deal with. Right now there are good days and hard days with much pain.
It has been tremendously comforting to our daughter to realize all the prayer and support that people have given her. We are continually receiving word of family, friends near and far, old and new, churches, organizations and other individuals who have been praying for all of us. We know that once you receive this urgent letter, you too will pray for us. Thank you so much. We believe that your regular prayers for us were a great part in the help our daughter received in the midst of the accident and during her stay at the hospital.
Thankfully, our daughter is now home and we are caring for her. Charles will stay here until the physicians who are overseeing our daughter's recovery say she is out of the danger zone. Since our daughter lives alone, and we have no close-by relatives, Nina will stay until a full healing is realized and self-care is possible.
Our churches in Georgia are in good hands as our national pastor, Lasha Siradze, and his wife, are taking care of the ministries. We talk to Lasha by computer voice programs almost every day and receive reports and help him to make ministry decisions. Just today we learned of some new families the church in the capital city is reaching. Also, we learned of some new evangelism outreaches being planned which we hope to report on in our next prayer letter.
Due to our emergency trip home during this crisis time, our expenses have been multiplied. Extra plane tickets, car rental fees and other necessary expenses when a family member has a serious accident all have piled up. Our ministry expenses continue also, with many needs. It is with all of this in mind that we want to thank you who have so faithfully and generously supported us, been concerned for us and prayed for us. Your every gift has been and is greatly appreciated especially during this difficult period.
You can email us to receive updates on our daughter's condition at nihoblitz@yahoo.com. We welcome your contacts and ask you again to please keep these urgent requests in your prayers.
Love in Christ to all,
Charles and Nina Hoblitz
Update July 2009
